Saxophonist Darryl Orr has been sharing his passion for music with audiences near and far for the last twenty years. After discovering his talent in high school, he pursued studies in classical saxophone and harmony at the University of Western Ontario before moving on to the renowned Humber College Jazz Performance program in Toronto, Ontario. During his four years at Humber, Darryl had the opportunity to study with such luminaries as Pat Labarbera and Mike Murley, and was also fortunate enough to share the stage with jazz legends Phil Woods, Dave Holland, Paquito D'Rivera and Don Thompson. Along with a Degree in Jazz Studies, Darryl graduated from Humber with Honours and received a President's Medal for outstanding leadership and academic excellence. These days, Darryl has established himself as a staple in the young and vibrant Toronto scene. He can been found performing regularly at some of the city's top venues, including The Rex Hotel, The Pilot Tavern, Dominion on Queen and Gate 403. In 2007, Darryl's quartet (then consisting of Richard Whiteman on piano, Brandi Disterheft on bass and Sly Juhas on drums) released their debut album at the CBC's famous Glenn Gould Studio.
