Drummer Mario Starnino from Montreal has led his own variations of a professional working jazz quartet the Mario Starnino Quartet and Triosphere. Formal musical background includes studies at Vanier College with Art Roberts. Jazz studies Program at the McGill Conservatory of Music under the direction of Jennifer Bell, Bill Mahar and Ron DiLauro. Additional technical studies at the Drummer’s Professional workshop in Montreal and privately with following individuals Lou Williamson and Jacek Kochan. Attendances at masters drum clinics/seminars featuring the likes of Kenny Aronoff, Peter Erskine, Omar Hakim, Elvin Jones, Ed Thigpen, Steve Smith and Dave Weckl for further inspiration and technique.
Extensive performance includes the Montreal International Jazz Festival,
CBC Radio programs such as Jazz Beat & Tonic hosted by Katie Malloch, Biddle’s, Upstairs, Stewart Hall, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Chapters & Indigo Café, Montreal Today on CTV, the National Gallery in Ottawa, The Rex Jazz & Blues Bar in Toronto, the Hotel Clarendon Quebec City, the Village Gate New York City and Club Med in the Dominican Republic. Furthermore, Mario has performed with the likes of such talented & legendary artists as Wray Downes, the late Nelson Symonds, Bill Coon, Mike Rud, Guy Boisvert, Kelly Jefferson, Tilden Webb, Al Mclean, Dave Watts as well as other notable musicians within the Quebec and Canadian scene.
CD is entitled: “First Impression”, “Just Chill” with Triosphere and “the Dell’Arte Sessions” produced by Rick Allison recorded at Espace Dell’Arte in Montreal as part of the Propulsion Jazz Series 2007.
