Gray Matter – the contemporary jazz group co-led by brothers Justin and Derek Gray – is set to release “Footsteps”, their debut album in March 2015. Their first combined effort features Grammy® award winning trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, Juno® nominated pianist Todd Pentney and Vancouver’s rising star tenor saxophonist/film composer Eli Bennett.

Gray Matter brings a unique blend of modern jazz and groove-based music, with influences ranging from John Coltrane to James Brown.  Gray Matter will be releasing “Footsteps” with a 8-concert, Ontario/Quebec CD Release tour: playing two nights at Toronto’s Rex Hotel, a Saturday feature performance at The Jazz Room in Waterloo, and a Sunday afternoon matinee presented by the Kingston Jazz Society. Aiming to connect with all generations of Canadian music lovers, Gray Matter will also be leading post-secondary workshops, including a noon-hour clinic at Humber College.
