New York-based pianist/vocalist/composer returns to the Rex for the firsttime since 2006 to celebrate the release of her new CD “Songs For a NewDay“.
A Sarnia native, Earle moved to Toronto in the mid-1990s to attend YorkUniversity for jazz piano. For the next six years she remained a stapleof the Toronto jazz scene playing regularly at the Rex and the now-defunct TopO The Senator and Montreal Bistro.
Since moving to New York, Earle has performed/recorded with Donny McCaslin, theNuminous Ensemble, Dick Oatts, John Riley, Wycliffe Gordon and the DIVA JazzOrchestra. In 2007, Brenda’s piano playing was recognized when she madefinalist at the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Piano Competition. Brenda hasperformed at the Kennedy Center, the Ravinia festival in Chicago, the CliffordBrown Jazz Festival, the Toronto Jazz Festival and in clubs and festivalsacross the US, Canada and New Zealand.
