Bruce Cassidy is a leading composer, arranger and one of the foremost proponents of the Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI). He recently returned to his native Toronto after an extended sojourn in South Africa.
His performing interest is focused on his Hotfoot Orchestra, a group of 10 virtuoso musicians who can be heard making amazing and audacious jazz in and around Toronto.
In the late 1970s Bruce was musical director for Blood Sweat And Tears and his association with David Clayton-Thomas continued on his return to Canada in 2003.
In December 2008 Bruce co-produced an album with David Clayton-Thomas entitled ‘Spectrum’. This has just been released.
Bruce conducts the Bruce Cassidy Jazz Orchestra at Humber, a large group containing a string quartet which performs forward-leaning original music. He also conducts an R&B, pop-inflected 6-horn band at the school. He is also an advisor to students on their recording projects.
