Jazz Mechanics Big Band (Brampton)

18 Piece Jazz Orchestra, led by Andrew Jones

This Brampton-based band was formed in 1979 and derived its name from a group of mechanics who, in 1884, established a band in the town. While providing a platform for many talented and noted Canadian composers, The Jazz Mechanics has also explored the music of many of the great big bands including Ellington, Basie, Kenton, Herman, Thad Jones and Louie Bellson, right up to many contemporary composers such as Maria Schneider, John La Barbera, Rob McConnell, John McCloud etc. Noted jazz personalities who have performed with the group include Guido Basso, Pat La Barbera, Phil Nimmons and Hagood Hardy.
