Kinneret Sagee

Canadian clarinetist Kinneret Sagee has developed an active and diverse performance schedule since arriving in Toronto in 2002. As a member of the successful Yiddish swing sextet The Sisters of Sheynville, Kinneret has performed in some of Toronto’s most popular club venues, concert halls and festivals including the Rex Hotel, the Toronto Center for the Arts, The Ashkenaz Jewish Music Festival and The Toronto Jazz Festival.
One of Kinneret’s current projects, The Lithuanian Empire, brings eight friends together in an energetic band with fresh interpretations of traditional and original klezmer tunes. Their self-titled album, completed in Montreal in the summer of 2006, is aimed to reach audiences of all ages and musical tastes.
In addition to her klezmer interests, Kinneret holds a Masters of Music degree in clarinet performance from Miami University of Ohio. Her Bachelor of Music degree, also in performance, was completed at the University of Alberta.
Kinneret’s clarinet playing has been influenced and inspired by her studies with international clarinetists such as Christian Dawid, Michéle Gingras, David Krakauer, and Robert Spring. Kinneret has performed at Carnegie Hall, at Salzburg’s Mozarteum Music Academy, and with Symphony in the Barn, an innovative classical music venue in Southern Ontario. Kinneret can be seen performing regularly with various orchestras in the Greater Toronto Area.
