Scott Marshall

Scott Marshall is a very widely sought after musician, producer, and educator. With abilities on the saxophone that have impressed all who have heard him play, this versatile improviser and doubler is in constant demand with the jazz community and professional jobbing scene around Toronto Canada. A skilled composer and arranger, Scott’s compositions have been featured on two cds by the original music group OUT OF ORDER, as well as his own cds: THE SCOTT MARSHALL TRIO ‘FACE IT,’ and THE SCOTT MARSHALL QUARTET ‘NINE MOMENTS OF TIME.’ Consistent C Films and Dessart production included some of Scott’s music in the soundtrack of their feature release ‘THE LOSS’. He co produced and arranged all the music for singer LYNE TREMBLAY’S cd ‘BREAK AND ENTER’ as well as performed in the award winning East Hill production of ‘RISE UP’ a short film featuring Lyne Tremblay. Scott is also a featured soloist on WHITNEY SMITHS BIG STEAM BAND ‘LIFE DRAWING’ cd. John Evans productions and the Royal Ontario Museum hired Scott to research and arrange the music for a show featuring the music of the Deco period of history, to coincide with the opening of the Deco Exhibit at the museum. The show was a huge success and was re staged at the Distillery Jazz Festival as a headline show. Scott also recently performed in the feature length documentary ‘FIGHTING IN SUNSHINE THE UNTOLD STORY OF BANOOD’ by Banga productions. After completing his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas and moving to Toronto in 1999, Scott has been in high demand as an educator, working for the Toronto District School Board as well as teaching masterclasses for saxophone and improvisation. He is routinely hired for the Toronto School board’s Music by the Lake, and the University of New Brunswick’s Summer Music Camp. If all that isnt enough Scott has also toured a lot in the last several years with not only his own ensembles, but with the likes of Persian superstar Shadmehr Aghilli, Hot Toddy, Lyne Tremblay, Out of Order, Whitney Smith’s Big Steam Band,and NOJO. Playing in places as diverse as Dubai UAE, Stockholm and Gottenburg Sweden,Koln Germany, Amsterdam Holland, London and Manchester England, New York City, Vancouver BC, Saskatoon Sask.,Ottawa ON, Montreal QC, Quebec City QC, Fredericton NB, St Andrews NB, and Halifax Nova Scotia!
