William, a much sought after musician in the Toronto area, took an instant liking to the trumpet in grade school where he studied privately with Bram Smith. He continued his education at Wilfrid Laurier University on a full scholarship and for two and a half years studied the classical repertoire and played in every ensemble available, such as the orchestra, wind ensemble, brass trio, jazz ensemble as well as leading his own jazz quintet.  During this time, he also recorded two tracks for Canadian composer Glen Buhr on his debut CD ‘Songs’ in 1990.

Based in Toronto, William has played with numerous musicians including Colin James, Gerald Eaton, James Tinsley, Charlie Schlueter and held first trumpet chair and a minor acting role in the musical production Swing Step. William has recorded programs for CBC’s Jazz Beat, and composed and performed the accompanying score for Nalo Hopkinson’s short story ‘Riding the Red’. He currently belongs to various ensembles such as Tyler Yarema and His Rhythm, Janice Hagan, Danny B, Jake and the Blue Midnights and The Niagara Brass Ensemble.
In the producing role, William has worked with many great musicians and engineers including Los Angeles producer Harold Battiste and perhaps Canada’s greatest brass sound engineer Ed Marshal.
