The University Jazz Orchestra is a single-seat, auditioned jazz orchestra playing contemporary arrangements for big band.

Guest Director of the UJO is the distinguished composer, arranger and saxophonist John Warren. The group performs two concerts a year as part of the University Concert Series; the next concert is on Friday 1 June at the National Centre for Early Music in York.

Past collaborations have included work with trombonist Mark Bassey, pianist Nikki Iles and saxophonist Julian Argüelles. In addition to jazz classics, the group also performs new compositions and works by such as Maria Schneider, Kenny Wheeler and John Taylor.
