Hameshet is comprised of five exceptionally talented emerging artists from the jazz department of the world-renowned Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts in Israel. Thelma Yellin is a national high school where students from all across Israel audition to be accepted into this elite program. At Thelma Yellin, the “Fame” school of Israel, artistically gifted youth develop their skills in their chosen fields of specialization. Well known graduates of the Thelma Yellin Jazz program include Shai Maestro, Tom Oren, Avishai Cohen (Trumpet), Anat Cohen, Eli Dejibri, Omer Avital, Gilad Hekselman, Ofri Nehemia, Roni Kaspi, Johnny Goldstein (Producer/Songwriter) and award-winning Composer/Orchestrator Oran Eldor. Hameshet performs a wide range of original pieces, as well as arrangements of well known jazz standards. Slightly experimental, their original works are modern in style, incorporating middle eastern to progressive rock influences. Hameshet ensemble is comprised of Zohar Raviv (Alto Sax), Idan Borovsky (Tenor Sax), Aviv Rokah (Guitar), Amir Segal (Bass & Music Director), and Ori Etzioni (Drums). Industry insiders characterize Hameshet’s original works in the vein of Maria Schneider, describing their sound as mature and intelligent with depth well beyond their years.
