remembering Rob Collins

Please join us for a belated celebration of the life of Robert J. Collins. To his own family he was “Bob,” but to us he had to be “Rob” since we already had a Bob of our own.

Rob was an integral member of The Rex family, and an important part of the history, culture, and community of The Rex. We miss him and his fiery personality very much.

He died while on vacation in Cuba on February 19, 2020. As arrangements were being made to bring him back home, the pandemic hit. The Rex closed mid-March and lockdowns ensued. We were not able to gather, but when restrictions finally lifted, we did not all pick up where we left off.

Everything had changed. Many long-time members of the Rex community had moved on, and many had moved away (that includes me!). We all got caught up in trying to adapt to and keep up in this strange ongoing pandemic era, that we missed the opportunity to reflect on what he meant to us. So now, we are creating that opportunity.

On the third anniversary of his passing, it’s time to celebrate Rob and honour the end of an era.
